Baník Ostrava
About
FC Baník Ostrava is a professional football club from Ostrava, Czech Republic, competing in the top-flight Chance Liga. Founded in 1922 by coal miners as SK Slezská Ostrava, the club has won four national championships - three Czechoslovak and one Czech title. Its golden era came in the late 1970s and early 1980s, when the team reached the European Cup quarter-finals and later won the Mitropa Cup in 1988. The club's ultras, known as Chachaři, are among the most passionate in Czech football.

The city of Ostrava in November 2025 unveiled the winning design for the new Nové Bazaly stadium by Barcelona-based studio L35 Arquitectos; construction is expected to begin in 2029 and the arena will have a capacity of over 20,000 seats.

Baník Ostrava in the 2025/26 season advanced to the UEFA Conference League qualification, where they faced Slovenian Celje and were eliminated.

In the 2025/26 Europa League qualification, Baník drew 2:2 with Legia Warsaw at home, but lost 1:2 away and failed to advance.

Nearly 12,000 fans attended the home match against Prague Sparta as part of the playoff at the stadium in Vítkovice.

The club started the spring part of the 2024/25 season with the first home match of 2025 against Sigma Olomouc and simultaneously expanded the fan shop offering with a new #DEMRUBAT collection.
