Back to the Future: The Musical is a stage adaptation of the 1985 film, with a book by Bob Gale and music and lyrics by Alan Silvestri and Glen Ballard. It premiered in Manchester in February 2020, transferred to London's Adelphi Theatre in September 2021, and opened on Broadway in June 2023. The West End production won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Musical in 2022, and the show has since expanded to a North American tour, a Japanese production, and a planned UK tour.
The London production at Adelphi Theatre closed on April 12, 2026 after a total of 1913 performances.
The North American tour continues with a new cast - Kathryn Adeline took over the role of Lorraine Baines and Braden Allen King plays Dave McFly.
The first British tour of the musical was announced, starting in Bristol in October 2026 and continuing to Edinburgh, Liverpool, Milton Keynes, Sunderland and Southampton.
In Tokyo, the Japanese production of the musical by Shiki Theatre Company opened.
The Broadway production at Winter Garden Theatre closed on January 5, 2025.
