Avatar are a Swedish heavy metal band from Gothenburg, active since 2001. Over two decades they have released ten studio albums and built a reputation as one of the most theatrical live acts in the genre, with frontman Johannes Eckerström's clown makeup and a circus-inflected stage show at the centre of their identity. Musically they move freely between groove metal, melodic death metal and hard rock, deliberately reinventing their sound with each record.
