Artus de Penguern (13 March 1957 - 14 May 2013) was a French actor, director and screenwriter of Breton aristocratic descent. He is best known internationally for playing Hippolyte in Amélie (2001) and for writing, directing and starring in the slapstick comedy Grégoire Moulin contre l'humanité (2001), which earned a César nomination for best first film. Over a career spanning more than three decades he appeared in over 30 feature films, working with directors including Maurice Pialat, Roman Polanski and Philip Kaufman.
Artus de Penguern died on May 14, 2013 in Paris at the age of 56 from a heart attack.
