About

Antonio Salieri (1750–1825) was an Italian composer who spent most of his career in Vienna as court composer and kapellmeister to the Habsburg court. He wrote numerous operas and sacred works. Today he is best known to wider audiences as Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's rival, a role immortalised in Peter Shaffer's play Amadeus.
