About

Antonín Panenka is a Czech footballer whose name became a universal term for a chipped, down-the-middle penalty kick. He invented the technique at the 1976 European Championship final in Belgrade, where Czechoslovakia beat West Germany. After retiring as a player, he remained closely associated with Bohemians Praha.
