Antoine Fuqua (born 1966, Pittsburgh) is an American film director who broke through with the thriller Training Day (2001), which earned Denzel Washington an Academy Award for Best Actor. He started out directing music videos for artists including Prince, Stevie Wonder and Coolio before moving into features, building a reputation for taut action and dramatic intensity. Beyond the Equalizer trilogy and films like Shooter and The Magnificent Seven, he has also made acclaimed documentaries on Muhammad Ali and the LA Lakers. His 2026 biographical film Michael, about the life of Michael Jackson, crossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office.
