Anna Kendrick (born August 9, 1985, in Portland, Maine) is an American actress, singer, and film director who began her career at twelve with a Tony Award nomination on Broadway. She earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for Up in the Air (2009) and became a global name through the Pitch Perfect franchise (2012-2017). In 2023 she made her directorial debut with the Netflix thriller Woman of the Hour.
Anna Kendrick was selected as the director of the film adaptation of the novel The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo for Netflix.
Kendrick and J. K. Simmons were cast in leading roles in the geopolitical thriller Embassy, whose production began in February 2026 in London and Cologne.
Kendrick began negotiations for a role in the film comedy Babies alongside Seth Rogen, while at that time she was already filming a movie for A24 directed by Chris Rock.
The sequel Another Simple Favor was released on Amazon Prime Video, where Kendrick reprises the role of Stephanie Smothers alongside Blake Lively.
Kendrick made her directorial debut with the thriller Woman of the Hour, which premiered at the TIFF 2023 festival, and Netflix paid an eight-figure sum for it.
