Anja Turlo (born Hanna Turlo, 9 March 1992, Kyiv) is a Ukrainian theatre director and cultural activist. She studied directing at the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Kary Theatre, Cinema and Television University, where her graduation piece - an experimental performance in total darkness, "Točka zoru" (Point of View) - drew critical attention. She works regularly with Kyiv's academic Zoloti Vorota theatre and since May 2022 has coordinated the Imagine UA project at Prague's City Theatres, staging her own productions on Czech stages.
The Zoloti Vorota theatre in Kyiv premiered the production "Ja povernusja" (directed by Anna Turlo) about deported children from southern Ukraine - Turlo's third work at this venue.
The production "Ja povernusja" was presented at the A studio Rubín theatre in Prague in two performances as part of the UKF grant.
As part of the Imagine UA project in Prague, Turlo presented the documentary production "Café 1933" about the famine in Ukraine in 1932-1933.
The Zoloti Vorota theatre in Kyiv premiered the production "Krychitka Caches" (directed by Anna Turlo) - a satirical fairy tale for adults about post-truth, originally planned before the full-scale invasion.
The Prague premiere of the production "Trojanky" as part of the Imagine UA project was nominated for the Mark Ravenhill award.
