A queer documentary about ballroom as a space of freedom in a conservative setting. We follow dancer Valentina and trans man Tea as they seek acceptance and community in Croatia.
Anja Koprivšek was born in Novi Sad. She graduated from the Department of Documentary Directing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. Her first film 'Between Summers' (2021) had its world premiere at Doclisboa and was also screened at ZagrebDox, Pula Film Festival, STIFF, and others. She won the 'Jelena Rajković Award' for best director younger than 30 at Croatian Film Days, as well as the ‘U Napuštenom Bioskopu Award' for best director at Bistre Reke Festival. In 2023, she co-directed the documentary omnibus 'Eight Chapters'. For 'Grand Prize' (2024), she was awarded Special Mention to an author under 35 at ZagrebDox. Between 2022 and 2024, she was an assistant coordinator for the international training initiative for directors and producers CIRCLE Women Doc Accelerator.
