Amy Winehouse was a British singer-songwriter whose voice fused soul, jazz and R&B in a way that set her apart from virtually every contemporary. Her second album, Back to Black (2006), made her the first British woman to win five Grammy Awards in a single night. She died of accidental alcohol poisoning in July 2011, aged 27. In 2023 Rolling Stone placed her on its list of the 200 Greatest Singers of All Time, and in 2025 Back to Black was inducted into the US National Recording Registry.
The album Back to Black was added to the American National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress in 2025.
In April 2024, the biographical film Back to Black directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson had its world premiere, in which actress Marisa Abela played Amy Winehouse.
For the film premiere of the biopic, the soundtrack Back to Black (Songs from the Original Motion Picture) was released on the Island Records label.
Rolling Stone magazine included Amy Winehouse on its list of the 200 greatest singers of all time.
