Amanda Seyfried (born December 3, 1985, in Allentown, Pennsylvania) is an American actress and singer who broke through as Karen Smith in Mean Girls (2004) and became a global name playing Sophie in the musical Mamma Mia! (2008). Her portrayal of disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in the Hulu miniseries The Dropout (2022) won her both an Emmy and a Golden Globe. In 2025 she headlined three major projects simultaneously - the thriller The Housemaid, crime miniseries Long Bright River, and musical drama The Testament of Ann Lee - earning two Golden Globe nominations.
In June 2026, Seyfried criticized Hollywood's dependence on sequels in an interview with Interview magazine, while at the same time admitting that she would immediately take on Mamma Mia 3.
At the 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony (January 11, 2026), Seyfried was nominated in two categories - for Long Bright River and for The Testament of Ann Lee - but did not win in either case.
