Alfredo Rodriguez is a Cuban jazz pianist who grew up in Havana and trained at its conservatories in the classical tradition. Producer Quincy Jones spotted him at the Montreux festival in 2006, and Rodriguez later emigrated to the US, releasing his debut Sounds of Space under Jones's guidance. His playing fuses afro-Cuban rhythms with European classical influences, delivered with a percussive, explosive touch. His album The Invasion Parade earned a Grammy nomination.
