Akio Otsuka (born November 24, 1959, Tokyo) is a Japanese voice actor, actor, and narrator whose deep baritone has made him one of the most recognizable voices in anime, video games, and Hollywood dubbing. He is best known as Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid series, Batou in Ghost in the Shell, and the title character in Black Jack. The son of veteran voice actor Chikao Otsuka, he has taken on several of his late father's roles. In April 2026 he became an independent freelancer after nearly four decades with Mausu Promotion.
On March 31, 2026, the agency Mausu Promotion announced that Otsuka left the agency and will continue to work as an independent artist.
In January 2026, it was confirmed that Otsuka will voice a character in the anime Akane-banashi.
In November 2025, his casting in the drama series Hokuhó Kenzó: Suikoden was announced.
In May 2025, Otsuka met Nicolas Cage in person for the first time at Osaka Comic Con, whose Japanese dubbing he has provided for over 37 years.
In June 2025, the animated film LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: Fushimi no Chizoku premiered, in which Otsuka once again voiced Jigen Daisuke.
