1914 is an extreme metal band from Lviv, Ukraine, formed in 2014 - a century after the outbreak of World War One. Their sound blends blackened death metal with funeral doom and old school death metal, woven through with authentic audio samples of period speeches, marches and battlefield sounds. Albums like *The Blind Leading the Blind* and *Where Fear and Weapons Meet* trace the fates of real soldiers caught in the trenches.
