Karel Zeman (1910–1989) was a Czech film director and animator celebrated for his unique blend of animation, puppetry, and live action. Pohádky tisíce a jedné noci (1974) is one of his feature films inspired by the classic Arabian Nights tales. His imaginative visual style influenced filmmakers worldwide.
