After several years, he returns to his native Spain to film a new movie in the desert of the island of Fuerteventura. The creative process is complicated by harsh conditions and Esteban's directorial approach, which doesn't fit into today's modern times. The most explosive circumstance, however, is that he entrusted the lead role to his estranged daughter. Can the shared time on set heal old wounds, or will it only pour more salt into them? Javier Bardem has triumphantly returned to Cannes in his strongest role in recent years.
