Weekend Workshop for Children: Medek / Koblasa Exhibition - Defying Prohibition

How can a painting express fear, joy, tension, or hope? What can be said through colour, shape, or sculpture without using a single word?

In a series of three art workshops, children aged 6-12 will discover the work of Mikuláš Medek and Jan Koblasa and their bold, unconventional approach to art. Together they will observe selected works from the exhibition Defying Prohibition, search for stories, emotions, and unusual forms within them, and experiment with transforming their own ideas and feelings into artistic creations.

Each workshop offers a different way of working - from playing with colour and abstraction, through experimenting with materials and space, to creating inspired by personal feelings and imagination. Children will become familiar with the work of two significant Czech artists and discover that art has no single correct way to look. The workshops are spaces for experimentation, imagination, and self-expression - just as it was important for Medek and Koblasa to find new ways to speak through art about the world around us and the world within each person.

Workshop duration: 60-90 minutes. Total capacity: 20 children.
